How I teach art
My name is Ashley Rogers and I have been teaching art in various contexts for over 25 years. From public school to private lessons, after-school classes and summer art weeks, I love seeing kids learn to express themselves creatively in ways they often don't get the chance to. I've taught 3 year olds to 83 year olds and there truly isn't much difference as we are all children at heart when you put a paintbrush in our hands! When I teach children's art classes I combine both the fundamentals of design as well as self expression and the abstract. What does that mean? It means sometimes your child will come home with a piece of art you love, but more importantly, they will come home feeling proud of what they have done and doing something they love. I believe in teaching the spirit as well as the body, which means that I teach all my art classes from the perspective that we were made by a loving creative God that sees their value and wants to create with them. I will not teach your kiddo how to make pretty art, but I will teach them how to create from their hearts while gaining the skills to help them capture the beauty God gives us around every corner.

Kids Art Class Options:
Created Kids Camp
This is a 4-5 Day half day art camp held at the Created Studio every year during the summer. 2025 summer camp dates will be posted in April. Please make sure you are subscribed to our mailing list for more details. Created Kids Camp is for ages K-5 and class size is limited. Classes are taught by both Ashley and a helper.
Private Art Lessons
Private art lessons are taught by me (Ashley) and set up on a schedule that works with each client. I offer art lessons to students ranging from second grade to adult. This is primarily because a basic knowledge of art classes are recommended before taking private lessons. Lessons can be catered to each persons desire in attaining skills and can include but not limited to: basic drawing skills, portraiture, acrylic painting, photo representational (wanting to paint or draw a certain image), or even mentoring in portfolios or projects for current students. Lessons are $45 per 1 hr 15 min session and can be set up weekly or monthly. Private Sessions are offered in Created Studio unless exxtenuating circumstances require an alternate arrangement.
Group Classes for Homeschool Families
I offer an 8 week course to homeschool families that is taught during school time hours. While this class is usually held in the Created Studio in Garden Ridge, I am flexible and am willing to set up a group class in other locations if enough attendees register. Group class can coincide with specific curricum and units or be a stand alone offering. The 8 week course is set up in two phases of skill buidling- basic drawing and then basic acrylic painting. Level 2 classes are offered in 8 week blocks but level 1 must be completed or a portfolio provided. Group classes are charged at a monthly rate of $100 per student, 1 hour classes once per week.
